Snake-wood German bass bow

In the world of the double bass there are many schools of playing. One of the newer approaches involves using a longer and, perhaps more importantly, a much heavier bow. This can range anywhere from 170 grams to as high as 220 grams. This is quite remarkable since an average French-style bass bow ranges from 120 to 140 grams on average and some heavier bows are in the 150 gram range. German bows tend. on average, to be lighter but are still in that range.
This bow is my first and only attempt at the long, heavy variety. It weighs in at 174gms. It is owned and played locally by a dear friend.
